IF YOU’RE ANYTHING LIKE US, YOU HAVE SUCH LITTLE FREE TIME - HARDLY ANY!
Imagine a musical journey that fits around your lifestyle.
____
Sometimes as adults we lose our hobbies. Family, your job and responsibilities take up a massive part of your life.
And you give yourself to those parts but you don’t always get as much back for yourself - something that’s just for you.
But ukulele and the band, this is something for us. We only started playing the ukulele in our late twenties and thirties. It’s such an accessible instrument and one of the quickest instruments you can learn a song on. Learn 4 chords and you can play hundreds of songs.
As Zoe Deschanel put it,
“THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT GUITARS, THEY’RE SO BIG, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? YOU’RE JUST LIKE, 'UGH!' IT JUST SEEMS SO OVERWHELMING. AND THE UKULELE IS, LIKE, THE OPPOSITE OF OVERWHELMING.“
Which is exactly it! The last thing we need as adults is more overwhelm, right?
Music gives you a passport to so many new experiences - it makes life so much more exciting.
You can join a band, you can jam, you can do an open mic night, you can hook up with another musician and play some tunes, or go watch other musicians and simply have a better understanding of their performance.
Meet Angelique
I eat, breathe and sleep music. When I’m not teaching or being taught music, I’m at a music festival or gig. I live in a lively house where there’s always something happening, be it a band of musicians rehearsing in the front room, a piano lesson, flute practice, or entertaining some Corsican relatives.
Music doesn't leave you alone. If music is your passion it will be with you forever, no matter what you do.
I haven’t always followed a musical career. I did languages and business at university and have worked in finance and marketing but always carved out time for my passion which is without doubt music. I feel very fortunate to now run a successful music business alongside my role of Head of Music at a fantastic Prep School near Bath
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO START YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY AND ENJOY THE MULTITUDES OF BENEFITS THAT MUSIC CAN OFFER YOU.
Meet Lucy
When I’m not jamming with the Red Bandits or teaching, I’m most likely negotiating with my two toddlers about which snacks they want and then don’t want! I'm a qualified Primary School teacher with a passion for music currently teaching at a beautiful Prep School in Bath.
My “me-time” is to find a few moments to sit on my sofa and learn a new song on my beautiful ukulele, sipping a cup of builders tea.
Ukulele has been a lifeline for me, before starting a family but even more importantly after. It’s the activity I do JUST FOR ME! From feeling a bit beige to adding a new layer of excitement to my life and I love nothing more than sharing this excitement with our pupils
